Police updates on crimes and invesitgations for 27 October 2022.

Fatal crash, Ōtāhuhu

One person has died following a crash in Ōtāhuhu yesterday afternoon.

The crash, involving two vehicles on Saleyards Road, was reported to Police around 5.09pm.

Saleyards Road was closed for some time.

The Serious Crash Unit has been notified.’

Name release of man found in Waikato River

The Coroner has authorised Police to release the name of the man found deceased in the Waikato River at Ngāruawāhia on 13 October.

He was Phillip Tawera, 59, of Hamilton.

The Coroner is investigating the circumstances of his death and will release a finding in due course.

Charges following fatal crash, Invercargill

Invercargill Police have completed the investigation into a crash that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old.

The crash occurred on Monday, 1 August 2022, on Nith Street, Invercargill.

As a result, a 17-year-old youth has been referred to Youth Aid, charged with Reckless Driving Causing Death.

Police would like to thank members of the public who came forward with information and assisted with the investigation.

Police would also like to acknowledge the parents and family of the 16-year-old victim at this very difficult time.
