Philip Polkinghorne, accused of murdering his wife Pauline Hanna and staging it as a suicide, will not testify in his defense at his trial.
His lawyer, Ron Mansfield KC, stated in his opening address that there is nothing to be gained from Polkinghorne speaking in court, as the best evidence has already been provided through his police interview.
The defense maintains that Hanna, who faced significant pressures from her work during the pandemic, took her own life.
