The FBI has arrested a 35-year-old Saudi national and OpenAI engineer for allegedly placing a bug in an executive conference room at OpenAI’s San Francisco office.

He has been charged with using a device to intercept oral communications after the device was found plugged into a TV’s USB port in late September.

OpenAI said that it used AI models to identify the employee and referred the matter to the FBI and subsequently terminated his employment.
