Lake Tekapo search

A search operation has been launched for a man in Lake Tekapo overnight.

Emergency services were called about 8pm after reports that a man had entered the water and failed to resurface.

Police search and rescue staff, along with Coastguard Mackenzie Lakes volunteers, Fire and Emergency New Zealand, and a helicopter, all deployed and conducted a search.

“Sadly, the man has not been located”. said Senior Sergeant Hamish Keer-Keer.

“The search will resume this morning.”
