Secondary teachers accept latest pay deal

Secondary teachers achieve pay rise

Secondary teachers have voted to accept the government’s new collective agreement, securing a 4.6% pay rise over two years, increased allowances for management and specialist roles, and new monetary and time supports for staff handling NCEA assessments.

The settlement also establishes a $1 million annual fund for professional learning and development.

However, the PPTA says the deal still falls short, criticising officials for failing to address their call for better pastoral care staffing to support students’ wellbeing.
