This morning over 200 concerned citizens attended a council meeting in Tauranga in a show of force against the Director-General of Health Diana Sarfati’s directive for the council to commence water fluoridation or face severe financial penalties.
The large turnout reflects growing unease within the community over the perceived risks associated with fluoridation.

Dr. Sarfati’s order has put Tauranga’s mayor and council in a difficult position, as they grapple with the potential fines that could be imposed if they do not comply. However, advocacy group Fluoride Free NZ (FFNZ) called on the council to clearly articulate the core issue at hand—what they describe as the forced introduction of a neurotoxin, comparable to lead, into the public water supply.
“Dr Sarfati is ordering the council to add a neurotoxin, comparable to lead, into the public water supply. That needs to be articulated by the mayor and councillors so that the public can understand what the problem is,” the group tweeted today.
“We are pleased that the mayor and councillors ultimately voted to seek an extension to their deadline until the New Health New Zealand judicial review has been completed at the end of next year.”
The council also voted to ask Sarfati whether fines would indeed be imposed if the extension is not granted and fluoridation does not begin by the set deadline.
Should Dr. Sarfati confirm her stance on imposing fines, the issue will return to the council for further consideration. Fluoride Free NZ has urged the council to join New Health New Zealand in seeking an interim injunction, potentially delaying fluoridation further as legal challenges proceed.
The outcome of this ongoing debate could set a significant precedent for how fluoridation mandates are handled in New Zealand, with both sides of the argument watching closely as the situation unfolds.
A parliamentary petition sponsored by FFNZ calling for water fluoridation to stop has so far accumulated more than 10,000 signatures.

How about having a referendum to decide if anything is added? Or even better, add nothing to the water by default and if someone REALLY wants to add fluoride to their own water then they could buy some tablets at the local pharmacist.
I have never believed that nonsense about it being added to reduce dental problems because it would only be in your mouth for a short time anyway before you swallow the water. Why not use mouthwash with it in and leave it out of the water which we have to drink?

A new government study has determined that fluoride levels in drinking water hitting twice the recommended limit are linked to low IQ levels in children.
Experts with the National Toxicology Program, part of the Department of Health and Human Services, examined previous research on fluoride levels. Their conclusion is the first example of a federal agency finding what officials think is a link between higher levels of fluoride exposure and lower IQ in kids.
It is a deliberate “dumbing” down strategy by the State masquerading as “preventing cavities” by using a toxic waste product from the fertilizer industry.

The fight is relentless isn’t it? I do not for one minute buy the fluoride in drinking water/dental advantages argument. The time that any water is in the mouth is miniscule and the amount of negative information about the product overwhelmingly points to it being a poison. How/why would you even consider ingesting it? If our local council (Tasman District Council) even considers adding this poison to our drinking water I/we will fight it all the way.
Fluoride is a waste product. It’s cheaper to mix into drinking water than to dispose of.
