19-year-old Palmerston North resident Ryan Satterthwaite has died after sustaining a critical head injury while playing an impromptu full-contact tackle game with friends.
The game is said to be inspired by the controversial “Run It” social media trend.
Police confirmed he was taken to hospital by friends but tragically died on Monday night.
Authorities and experts have voiced serious concerns about the dangerous craze, particularly following a recent Auckland event where participants were injured, including one who reportedly suffered a seizure.

I know people who were injured on the job, and were denied surgery for L5S1 disk displacement, (the surgeon refused to operate…) a blown-out knee which happened on the job (also denied knee surgery by the ortho-surgeon..) and no follow-ups from requests for referrals.
