The Act Party’s Treaty Principles Bill, which aimed to legally define the principles of the Treaty of Waitangi, was defeated at its second reading with 112 votes against and 11 in favour.
The bill drew significant over 300,000 submissions and protests in the main centres.
A government select committee had earlier recommended the bill not proceed.
All major political parties except Act opposed the legislation.
The bill proposed three core principles, emphasizing government sovereignty, respect for Māori rights at the time of the Treaty, and legal equality for all.
Response of David Seymour – ‘Only Act has the courage to defend equal rights’
In a statement on the party’s website, Seymour said, “ACT was the only party with the courage to defend equal rights in Parliament by voting for the Treaty Principles Bill at its second reading.”
“Is New Zealand a tribal society where your rights depend on your ancestry, or a liberal democracy where everyone has the same rights?
“That question isn’t going away. It will only be answered when Parliament decides to fill a decades-long void and define the principles of the Treaty so that New Zealanders are equal before the law.
“New Zealanders have told us loud and clear they are ready for this conversation, but their representatives are not.
“Parliament had an opportunity to push back against the courts and the bureaucracy, and define what the Treaty means itself, but New Zealanders have been let down by their political leaders.
“A vocal minority of New Zealanders have revealed themselves to not just be comfortable with unequal rights, but to be demanding of them. While they’ve scrambled to make submissions against the bill, numbers are no substitute for logic.
“Polling shows a plurality, and even a majority, of New Zealanders support the Treaty Principles Bill. But even if only a tiny minority supported equal rights, it would still be the right policy.
“Not a single submission has made the case for why ranking New Zealanders by their date of arrival will make the future better.
“ACT has shown how New Zealand can be a society where people are equal in rights, respect and dignity, no matter their ancestry.
“The logic of equal rights is irresistible. Even if it is not a reality today, it will be eventually. And ACT will be working tirelessly to make sure that day comes sooner rather than later.”

I watched as thousands of Maori marched in a Hikoi to Parliament; at least they get up off of their asses and do something to protect themselves and their heritage, but that heritage sometimes encroaches in the form of discriminatory psy-op actions against Pakeha.
While I generally dislike David Seymour and his constituency, it’s amazing that the Treaty Principles Bill failed when it offered EQUALITY FOR EVERYONE.
Noteworthy was the reaction of the House Speaker calling for the NZ Police, and one could see the tantamount level of fear in his face. Just imagine if Parliament had been stormed by a massive Hikoi that carried 3D printed firearms had this bill of equality been passed into law.
This is why the bill actually failed via tribal intimidation, especially after Jabby took away the UN Right to Self Defence, as those in Parliament did not want to have an armed reaction and a possible nationwide uprising from tribal New Zealand had the bill passed.
The Treaty Principles Bill failed due to Parliament being intimidated on a sub-conscience psy-ops level with the threat of a massive uprising in the country, and having no way to deal with it since the population was disarmed by the last government. But, that isn’t the only worry-
An invasion from ‘up north’ is also a real threat, and we have no real way to defend ourselves, either against an invasion or a massive combined tribal uprising.
