Trump hails Supreme Court curb on universal injunctions by ‘radical left judges’

Donald Trump hailed a 6-3 U.S. Supreme Court ruling that limits federal judges’ ability to issue universal injunctions, calling it an end to a “colossal abuse of power” by what he described as radical left judges.

The decision allows lower courts to grant injunctions only in limited circumstances, a move that Trump said would enable the Department of Justice to advance previously blocked policies, including his contested executive order on birthright citizenship.

Justice Amy Coney Barrett, writing the majority opinion, stated that such sweeping injunctions lack congressional authorisation. In dissent, Justice Ketanji Brown Jackson warned the decision threatens constitutional checks and balances.
