TVNZ confirm job cuts, ‘Fair Go’ show axed

TVNZ news

Media and Communications Minister Melissa Lee responded to TVNZ’s confirmation of job cuts and the discontinuation of several shows, notably Fair Go after 47 years, by stating she’s ‘not a magician’ but working towards solutions for the media industry’s challenges.

TVNZ has confirmed plans to end Fair Go, Midday and Tonight news bulletins, potentially resulting in up to 68 job losses.

However, the state broadcaster will keep options open to retain the Fair Go brand on digital platforms, with a focus on long-form consumer and current affairs reporting.

The industry faces significant upheaval, highlighted by the decline in public trust in New Zealand media according to the AUT Trust in News survey.

Meanwhile, Warner Bros. Discovery’s Newshub awaits its fate, with hopes of a pared-back news service emerging, according to a report in legacy media today.

  1. Just shows how the management are so out of touch. More concerned about talking Maori than delivering programming. Then wonder why they have lost their consumer base. First to go are upper management with heads up,their shading area. Top shows should not be eliminated and only being don e for public outcry. Management have lost their brains. More Maori focused than 83% of country focus

  2. ‘Fair Go’ was an expose’ that the Old Boy Networks didn’t want to deal with, as it exposed the underbelly of con artists, dishonest and deflective businesses, and outright thieves who preyed upon the elderly and economically disadvantaged.
Hopefully, another network will pick up the show, or perhaps a version of Fair Go can be seen on Juice TV as a service to the public, kinda like the consumer programs that used to air on local city cable channels ie CTV’s ‘Shopping With Jo’, etc. OR-
Live-streamed on BannedVideo.com, Rumble, YouTube, Odysee or Brighteon. Maybe on all of them, and the show would then be monetised! Instead of costing money to produce and staff, there would be a subscriber-supported cost-offset.

  3. It is fraudulent to call this company tvnz as it has worked very hard to exclude our people and our stories while bending over backwards to accommodate lowest grade foreign programming and globalist psyop productions.
Having a WEF agendist on the chair explains a lot.
Former publicis groupe executive. A direct channel to the globalist WEF agenda deception planted right at the top of our national broadcasting.
    Another schwabian penetrator.
They took the most wonderful education tool and turned it into a psyop rubbish pump. Turning people into retarded programmed drones, obedient consumers.
    How utterly sick.
    Just another foul groomerican deception.
All those media agencies are guilty of complicity to commit pre meditated mass murder by pushing the democide.
    ALL COMPLICIT.
    ALL GUILTY.
Time to line them all up for a compulsory vaxxathon experiment.
These foul painted face wolves sheepdogged our people to their graves with continuous misinformation and outright lies.
Such a serious violation indicates utter rot in the core of this now ‘known as criminal’ organisation.
    FELL THIS ROTTEN TREE.
I want to see US on our networks, not some bunch of morally bankrupt groomerican psyop operatives.
