Uber rapist drops legal bid to block photo publication

An Uber driver jailed for raping a teenage passenger has withdrawn his legal effort to stop media outlets from publishing his photograph.

Satwinder Singh was sentenced in December to seven years and two months in prison after a February 2023 incident in which he picked up a teenage girl from a Hamilton pub, disabled his GPS, and drove to a secluded street where the rape occurred.

He had earlier been convicted in the Hamilton District Court of one count of rape and three counts of indecent assault. While his defence initially opposed publication of his image due to concerns about a relative’s mental health, the court had permitted media to take the photo pending a final ruling.

A later court decision confirmed Singh no longer opposed publication of the image. His image was published today in various media outlets.

  1. “He had earlier been convicted in the Hamilton District Court of one count of rape and three counts of indecent assault”.

Wait. So does that mean he had also previously done 7 years in prison prior to becoming an Uber driver? What’s going on here?

  2. I’d be surprised if he gets deported when he’s released. The question i have is he pakistani, indian, bangladeshi or afghan.

  3. Pakistani, Indian, Bangladeshi, Afghani, and what they now call Romany are all the same people. All sprung from the same DNA.
The current population of Bangladesh is approximately 176,883,186 as of February 2026. It is the eighth-most populous country in the world.
The current population of Pakistan is approximately 257.4 million as of 2026. It is the fifth-most populous country in the world.
The population of India in 2026 is estimated to be approximately 1.48 billion people. It is the most densely populated country in the world.
And they all want nothing more than to leave and go live in the west. Where they do exactly the same things that made their homelands nothing more than poverty stricken, overpopulated rubbish dumps.
