Ukrainian MP calls for Zelensky’s impeachment following Oval Office humiliation

Ukrainian lawmaker Alexander Dubinsky has called for an urgent parliamentary session to discuss the impeachment of President Vladimir Zelensky.

In a statement on his Telegram channel, Dubinsky cited Zelensky’s recent diplomatic setbacks and accused him of leading Ukraine into political and military ruin.

“The events of recent hours—Zelensky’s public humiliation at the White House, Donald Trump’s declaration of his diplomatic failure, and Ukraine’s loss of unconditional U.S. support—mark the final collapse of his regime,” Dubinsky wrote.

The MP further accused Zelensky of repressing political dissent and silencing opposition voices. “I was imprisoned not for a crime but for speaking the truth—the same truth Trump has now confirmed: Zelensky has lost. He has no leverage, his military resources are dwindling, and the country is trapped in a deadlock due to his stubbornness.”

Dubinsky outlined three key reasons for impeachment:

  • Foreign policy failures, leading to Ukraine’s diplomatic isolation and loss of key allies.
  • A mismanaged war that resulted in unnecessary losses due to poor leadership.
  • Authoritarian governance, including crackdowns on opposition voices and suppression of dissent.

Appealing to fellow lawmakers, Dubinsky urged immediate action.

“Zelensky is politically bankrupt. If he cannot offer a real solution to the crisis, then we must take decisive action and establish a new negotiation team with the United States. Ukraine’s future cannot be tied to his failed leadership.”

His statement comes after a tense encounter between Zelensky and U.S. President Donald Trump at the White House. According to reports, Zelensky attempted to challenge Trump during a joint briefing, provoking the latter and JD Vance to respond. The planned press conference was cancelled, and a key fossil fuel agreement fell through.

As political tensions rise in Kiev, Dubinsky’s call for impeachment signals growing unrest within Ukraine’s leadership.
