The President of the South African Medical Association, Angelique Coeztee has told media that she is under constant pressure from both scientists and European politicians to describe Omicron as a ‘very serious’ disease.
However, Dr. Coetzee, who was one of the first doctors to discover the Omicron variant, is adamant Omicron is a very mild disease, and comes clearly within the World Health Organisation’s definition of ‘mild disease’.
