Stephen Walker has been sentenced to seven years and 10 months’ imprisonment after being convicted of sexual offending against two women in separate incidents, one occurring more than 20 years apart.
In the first case, Walker met a young woman in the early 2000s who disclosed past sexual abuse and mental health struggles. During their relationship, he sexually assaulted her on multiple occasions.
Nearly two decades later, Walker met a recently widowed woman online. After she ended the relationship, he went to her home without consent, assaulted her and raped her. The court found he also coerced her into re-enacting childhood abuse she had previously suffered.
Walker denied both sets of offending, including during sentencing.
The sentence of 7 years and 10 months prison included reductions for Walker’s background and health issues, but with an uplift for prior convictions.
The victim in 2000’s was also raped. Both victims were raped.
This man used to tell people he was a “life coach” – probably how he got these poor women to divulge their past trauma which he later used against them according to this article. Wouldn’t surprise me if he used this knowledge and ‘life coach’ label to manipulate these women into these circumstances with him under the guise of ‘therapy’.
Yes absolutely true.
Walker has been abusing women since the 80s. He was well known here in Invercargill.
