A police investigation into the theft of a luxury Bentley SUV has uncovered several other stolen vehicles and a loaded shotgun, following coordinated searches across Auckland.

North Shore Police began investigating after a Bentley Bentayga was stolen during a burglary in the early hours of 1 December. Police say an offender entered a home, took the vehicle’s keys and drove away in the SUV, which also contained valuable personal items including a handbag and bank cards.

Enquiries by the Waitematā East Tactical Crime Unit later led officers to a property in Glen Eden, where a search uncovered four additional stolen vehicles. During the search, police also found a loaded shotgun concealed under a bed where a young child had been sleeping.

A 31-year-old man and a 27-year-old woman were arrested at the Glen Eden address and charged with dishonesty offences linked to the alleged use of stolen bank cards, as well as unlawful possession of a firearm.

The Bentley itself was not initially located, but further enquiries led police to Huia late last week, where the vehicle was recovered.

Police say the operation involved multiple investigation teams working across the North Shore and West Auckland, and further arrests remain possible as enquiries into the original burglary continue. The two accused have appeared in the Waitākere District Court and are due to reappear in March next year.
