K-pop group NewJeans has been left effectively split after its record label Ador terminated the contract of member Danielle Marsh, ending hopes of a full five-member return following a turbulent year of legal and internal conflict.
The decision comes after the group briefly attempted to leave Ador in 2024 over alleged mistreatment, a move blocked by a court ruling in October that forced the members to remain under contract until 2029.
While all five later agreed to return, Ador has now singled out Marsh, prompting a fierce backlash from fans who insist the group cannot exist without all five members.
The label says it will pursue legal action against former CEO Min Hee-jin and a member of Marsh’s family, blaming outside influence and misinformation for the fallout.
With some members recommitting to Ador and others still in talks, critics say the group’s future as a unified act is now in serious doubt.
