Auckland FC open five-point A-League gap with convincing Brisbane win

Auckland FC have moved five points clear at the top of the A-League after a commanding 0–2 victory over Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium, responding strongly after taking just one point from their previous two matches.

The visitors created a stream of chances and struck early through English forward Sam Cosgrove, who bundled in from a corner in the sixth minute, before Australian winger Lachlan Brook sealed the result with a precise curling finish from the edge of the box late in the second half.

The goals lifted both players to five for the season, placing them joint top of the golden boot standings, while Brisbane slumped to a third straight loss without scoring. Auckland coach Steve Corica said his side could have been sharper before the break but was satisfied with the clean sheet and believed the scoreline could have been even more emphatic.
