Blues smash Waratahs to keep playoff hopes alive

The Blues thrashed the Waratahs 46-6 at Eden Park, keeping their Super Rugby Pacific playoff hopes alive with a dominant seven-try performance.

Rieko Ioane scored a hat-trick, and returning winger Mark Tele’a added two more as the Blues played their most expansive and clinical rugby of the season.

While they now await the outcome of the Hurricanes vs Moana Pasifika match to secure a finals berth, the Blues showed renewed cohesion, aggression, and flair, farewelling several departing players in style.

Should they progress, a daunting quarterfinal clash with the top-seeded Chiefs awaits in Hamilton.
