Cricket World Cup: Black Caps go down to Pakistan in rain-affected match

The loss means New Zealand have won four and lost four in the showpiece tournament.

The Black Caps have lost their Cricket World Cup 2023 match against Pakistan today at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore.

From the BBC: ‘But regardless of their final position in the table, they have unearthed a star in 23-year-old Ravindra, who became the first New Zealand batter to score three centuries in a World Cup and the first batter ever to do so in their debut tournament.’

Result

  • NZ 401/6, Ravindra 108 (94), Williamson 95 (79); Wasim 3-60.
  • PAK 200/1, Fakhar 126* (81), Babar 66* (63); Southee 1-27
  • Pakistan won by 21 runs (Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method)
