Dolphins boost finals push as Origin hopefuls shine against Rabbitohs

Dolphins strengthened their finals hopes with a 32-10 Magic Round victory over South Sydney Rabbitohs, although concerns remain over the fitness of Origin star Latrell Mitchell after he failed to finish the match.

The Dolphins dominated early to build a commanding lead before South Sydney briefly threatened a comeback with two quick second-half tries.

Queensland hopefuls Max Plath, Selwyn Cobbo and Jack Bostock all impressed, with Plath producing a standout display capped by a powerful solo try that further boosted his State of Origin credentials.

Hamiso Tabuai-Fidow also crossed late to seal the win, while Kodi Nikorima suffered a hamstring injury in a blow for the Dolphins.

Mitchell, returning from a back issue, appeared hampered late in the game, though Rabbitohs coach Wayne Bennett insisted the superstar’s condition was not serious ahead of Origin selection.
