Football Supporters Europe (FSE) has urged FIFA to immediately stop selling tickets for the 2026 World Cup, arguing that prices for dedicated fans have reached “extortionate” levels—nearly five times those of the 2022 tournament in Qatar.
The organisation says tickets allocated to national associations, typically reserved for loyal supporters, are now “astronomical,” estimating that following a team from the opening match to the final would cost at least US$6900.
FSE also accused FIFA of abandoning earlier assurances of affordable pricing, noting that 2018 bid documents advertised tickets starting at US$21 and a full tournament journey costing US$2242 in the cheapest category.
The group is calling for FIFA to suspend sales, consult affected stakeholders, and redesign pricing to preserve the World Cup’s accessibility and cultural significance.
