The Hurricanes ended Moana Pasifika’s hopes of reaching their first Super Rugby playoffs with a dominant 64-12 win in Wellington.
While Moana needed a bonus-point victory to qualify, the Hurricanes had no intention of playing host, quickly overturning an early deficit and running in multiple tries, including two from Peter Umaga-Jensen.
Ardie Savea impressed on his return with three breakdown steals and a try, but even his efforts couldn’t stem the tide.
The loss eliminated Moana Pasifika from playoff contention and secured the Blues as the final team in the top six.
