Jake Paul has dropped out of the WBA’s cruiserweight rankings following his loss to Anthony Joshua, bringing a swift end to his controversial place among the division’s contenders.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer, who entered the rankings last year after beating Julio Cesar Chavez Jr, fell to 15th and was excluded entirely in the WBA’s latest update after being stopped by Joshua in the sixth round of their heavyweight bout.
Paul was knocked down twice, later revealed he suffered a broken jaw requiring surgery, and his removal has been welcomed by critics who argued his earlier ranking leap came at the expense of more established fighters, with Bosnia’s Edin Puhalo now taking the vacant spot.
