Kiwi driver Liam Lawson impressed on his Formula One debut at Baku’s Azerbaijan Grand Prix, securing ninth in FP1 and seventh in FP2 while outperforming Racing Bulls teammate Isack Hadjar and closing to within 0.696s of Lewis Hamilton’s fastest time.
Lawson also topped sector three in FP1, narrowly ahead of Charles Leclerc, and continued to show consistency despite a brief off-track moment.
His strong showing marked him as the second-best of Red Bull’s four cars and underscored his growing claim for a regular F1 seat as qualifying looms on Sunday.
