Premier League referee David Coote has been dismissed by Professional Game Match Officials Limited (PGMOL) after an investigation revealed serious breaches of his contract.
Coote was initially suspended in November following allegations of abuse towards Liverpool and former manager Jürgen Klopp, as well as a video purportedly showing him snorting a white powder during Euro 2024.
Further allegations, including claims he discussed booking a player before a match, compounded the controversy.
PGMOL and the Football Association conducted thorough investigations, deeming Coote’s actions incompatible with his role. UEFA also suspended the 42-year-old amid the ongoing inquiries. Despite his termination, PGMOL expressed a commitment to Coote’s welfare, and he retains the right to appeal.
