Roosters hold off Broncos fightback for fifth straight win

The Sydney Roosters secured their fifth consecutive NRL victory with a 38-24 win over the Brisbane Broncos at Allianz Stadium, surviving a dramatic second-half comeback after leading 30-0 early in the second half.

Brisbane stormed back through the brilliance of Reece Walsh to cut the margin to six points with 13 minutes remaining, but errors from Patrick Carrigan and a costly sin-binning for Kotoni Staggs ended the rally.

The match was overshadowed by a growing injury toll, with Broncos captain Adam Reynolds suffering a concussion that will rule him out next week, while Roosters trio Lindsay Collins, Mark Nawaqanitawase and Angus Crichton also picked up injuries.

James Tedesco starred again for the Roosters as their attack continued its red-hot form during a five-game winning streak.
