New Zealand seized early control of the second Test in Wellington after Blair Tickner’s superb 4 for 32 and debutant Michael Rae’s 3 for 67 bowled West Indies out for 205, despite a promising start from the visitors.
John Campbell, Brandon King, Shai Hope and Roston Chase all offered resistance before West Indies crashed from 153 for 3 to 205 all out, losing seven wickets for 52 runs. Tickner’s late-game injury—sustained while stopping a boundary and suspected to be a dislocated shoulder—cast a shadow over an otherwise dominant bowling display.
New Zealand openers Devon Conway and Tom Latham safely navigated nine overs before stumps, reaching 24 without loss and trailing by 181 heading into a second day expected to offer better batting conditions.
