Toa Samoa secured their place in the Pacific Championship final with a commanding 34–6 win over Tonga at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium, in a match interrupted by a dramatic lightning storm.
Second-rower Jeremiah Nanai scored twice as Samoa took control early and led 12–0 at halftime. Despite losing key forward Jason Taumalolo and later Stefano Utoikamanu to concussion, Tonga failed to convert their chances.
After a 90-minute weather delay, Samoa returned firing, with tries from Murray Taulagi, Payne Haas, and Chanel Harris-Tavita sealing the victory. Tonga’s Tolutau Koula managed a late consolation try, leaving his side needing a 34-point win over New Zealand next week to force a rematch.
