The New Zealand Warriors shrugged off the early loss of halfback Tanah Boyd to a suspected ACL rupture to storm to a commanding 42-12 win over the Brisbane Broncos in front of more than 50,000 fans at Suncorp Stadium during Magic Round.
Replacement Te Maire Martin produced a standout performance after being thrust into the game early, helping guide Andrew Webster’s side to seven tries in a dominant display. Despite concerns surrounding Boyd’s injury, the Warriors maintained control throughout the contest as their travelling supporters created a strong atmosphere in Brisbane.
The Broncos endured a difficult night on both sides of the ball and were dealt another blow late in the match when Va’a Semu left the field following a head knock.
Brisbane struggled to contain the Warriors’ attacking pressure as the visitors pulled away emphatically in the second half.
The result continues the Warriors’ strong campaign, while the Broncos are left searching for answers after another disappointing performance.
