The hashtag #boycottetsy has been trending on Twitter throughout the day.
Online creator marketplace and community Etsy has come under fire for cancelling products made for de-transitioning customers, as well as those made in support of women’s rights.
It’s also being called out for turning a blind eye and allowing products that promote hate and violence towards ‘TERFS’ – a slur for those who hold ‘traditional’ views on gender.
The controversy started when creator FunkGod tweeted some of her ‘de-trans’ awareness products had been removed by the online giant, for breaching ‘inclusivity policies’.

While the Funk God store appears to be still selling a wide range of ‘de-trans awareness’ products, a number of t-shirts had been pulled without notice, Funk God claimed.
Funk God, who has de-transistioned herself, is an advocate for de-trans awareness and believes ‘gender ideology harms children, women, and families.’
Funk God claimed Etsy had decided some of her designs were ‘hateful’.

Shame on Etsy. So sick of this forced indoctrination of ideology… while ideology gets a green light to go go go any and all opposition to gender ideology gets oppressed. Hmm. #boycottEtsy #EtsyHatesWomen pic.twitter.com/sMF2jRy6pP

Meanwhile, products promoting violence against TERFS were freely available on the platform.

I see #BoycottEtsy is trending.
Just a reminder that they sell all of these products advocating violence against feminist women, but ban anything that says "adult human female" as "hate speech".

Earlier this month, Etsy was accused by sellers of withholding revenues without notice, causing extreme financial hardship to those affected.
