Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai has cautioned users against placing blind faith in artificial intelligence systems, saying current models still make mistakes and should be used alongside traditional search tools.
Speaking to the BBC, Pichai said AI can be excellent for creative tasks but remains unreliable when it comes to factual accuracy, noting that “state-of-the-art AI technology is prone to some errors.”
His comments come as Google prepares to launch its next major AI model, Gemini 3.0, before the end of the year. Earlier versions of Gemini drew heavy criticism for producing historically inaccurate images due to restrictive safety and diversity settings — errors that quickly went viral online.
More recently, Google has been hit with a lawsuit in California alleging Gemini collected user data from Gmail, chat and video calls without consent, accusations the company strongly denies.
The explosive growth of the AI sector has fuelled a global investment surge, with major tech firms now spending an estimated US$400 billion a year on AI. But Pichai acknowledged that even giants like Google could be exposed if an AI bubble were to burst. “No company is going to be immune, including us,” he said.
Don’t have any trust in google either
Ai users warn google, we dont need you anymore. Goodbye.
