An American Airlines Boeing 737-800 was forced to divert to Denver after crew members reported engine vibrations on Flight 1006 from Colorado Springs to Dallas.
The aircraft landed safely at Denver International Airport at 5:15 pm local time, but passengers had to evacuate via slides after an engine fire broke out.
Dramatic videos shared online showed passengers standing on the wing as smoke billowed from the engine. All 172 passengers and six crew members were safely relocated, with American Airlines praising the swift response of its crew and emergency teams.
The FAA has launched an investigation into the incident, which adds to growing concerns over U.S. aviation safety following a series of recent air disasters.
