Bid to impeach Trump over Iran bombing crushed as 128 Democrats join Republicans

The U.S. House overwhelmingly voted 344–79 to table a resolution by Rep. Al Green seeking to impeach President Trump over unauthorised military strikes on Iran.

In a significant bipartisan rebuke, 128 Democrats joined Republicans to halt the effort, including all three top House Democratic leaders.

Green, supported by some progressives like Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, argued Trump’s actions amounted to a de facto declaration of war. However, party leadership emphasised using congressional oversight and the War Powers Resolution rather than impeachment.

Trump dismissed the attempt on Truth Social, ridiculing his critics and daring them to proceed.
