Harrods has set aside £62.3 million to compensate alleged victims of sexual abuse linked to its former owner, Mohamed Al Fayed, who died in 2023.
More than 100 people are expected to receive payments of up to £385,000 each under the redress scheme, which remains open until March 2026.
The luxury retailer said compensation began being issued in April 2025, with £57 million reserved for payouts and £5.3 million for legal costs.
The Metropolitan Police confirmed 146 reports of crimes related to Fayed, who owned Harrods from 1985 to 2010 but was never charged. The compensation plan contributed to Harrods posting a £34 million loss for the year.

Life is a box of chocolates.
Isn’t this typical. These police forces can arrest ordinary people for far, far less, even hurty words ut the rich and influential……now that’s a different story.
