Hunter Biden, the embattled son of President Joe Biden, was convicted early Wednesday on all three felony charges related to his 2018 purchase of a revolver.
Prosecutors successfully argued that Hunter Biden lied on a mandatory gun-purchase form by denying his illegal drug use.
Displaying little emotion, Biden stared straight ahead as the verdict was read in Delaware’s federal court. After jurors deliberated for three hours over two days, he hugged his attorneys, smiled and kissed his wife, Melissa, before leaving the courtroom with her. Despite facing up to 25 years in prison, it’s uncertain if Judge Maryellen Noreika will sentence him to time behind bars, given his status as a first-time offender.
First Lady Jill Biden, who attended most of the trial, arrived at the courthouse minutes after the jury’s verdict but was not present in the courtroom when it was read. Hunter Biden left the courthouse holding hands with the First Lady and his wife, avoiding reporters before driving off in waiting SUVs.
His father issued a statement accepting the jury’s decision and expressing pride in Hunter, who has reportedly been sober ‘since 2019’.
Meanwhile Biden’s attorneys indicated plans to ‘vigorously pursue all legal challenges available.’
The jury found Hunter Biden guilty of lying to a federally licensed gun dealer, making a false claim on the application by stating he was not a drug user, and illegally possessing the gun for 11 days.
Hunter Biden’s legal troubles are far from over, with a trial in California on tax evasion charges set for September. Additionally, congressional Republicans are expected to continue their efforts to investigate him over his infamous laptop.
Throughout the trial, prosecutors highlighted Hunter Biden’s severe drug addiction through deeply personal and humiliating evidence. Testimonies from his ex-wife and a former girlfriend detailed his habitual crack use, and jurors saw images and videos of him in compromising situations, underscoring the extent of his addiction when he purchased the gun.
Hunter Biden’s defense argued he did not consider himself an addict at the time of the purchase, citing his recent completion of a rehabilitation program. However, the evidence presented painted a stark picture of his drug use and deceit.
Hunter Biden had hoped to avoid trial through a plea deal with prosecutors, but the agreement collapsed under judicial scrutiny from Judge Noreika.
The investigation into the revolver purchase was initially triggered by Hallie Biden, Beau Biden’s widow, who found the gun in Hunter’s truck and discarded it in a panic. The gun was retrieved from the trash by a passerby, leading to police involvement and eventually the charges.
Only little people get to face so called justice……
His dad the president will pardon him anyway.
The apple didn’t fall far from the tree. There is no way they will put that sniffing little girl hair dementia-ridden geriatric up against Trump. The campaign would be full of Hunters verdict. My guess is Biden will step down citing health reasons and VP Harris will stand for the demoncrats. It will appeal to the female vote. That with the post-in votes from the deceased and legal immigrants may even the polls.
Tump is gping to help him
