Iran’s state broadcaster has urged citizens to delete WhatsApp, warning that the messaging app may be sharing user data and locations with Israel during a time of heightened conflict.
Citing concerns over privacy and national security, Iranian media alleged that WhatsApp and Instagram are supplying sensitive user information to Israeli authorities—claims WhatsApp strongly denies.
Responding to US legacy media, the company insisted its messages are end-to-end encrypted and not accessible to anyone, including itself.
However, critics argue that platforms owned by Meta have a history of opaque data practices and cooperation with Western interests.
