A 47-year-old man has been charged with murder and two counts of sexual assault following the death of a five-year-old Aboriginal girl in central Australia, a case that has triggered unrest in Alice Springs.
The child, referred to by the cultural pseudonym ‘Kumanjayi Little Baby’, was found dead on Thursday after an extensive police search.
Alice Springs resident Jefferson Lewis is due to appear in a Darwin court on Tuesday.
Northern Territory Police said the investigation remains deeply distressing for the family and wider community.
Violent riots erupted outside the Alice Springs hospital where Lewis was being treated for injuries before being transferred to Darwin.
Police said five people were arrested after crowds allegedly threw projectiles, damaged vehicles and looted nearby businesses, causing more than A$180,000 in damage. Community elders have urged calm and called for the justice system to take its course.
The community justice in Alice Springs would have been more appropriate for that animal.
If guilty. Proven yet?
As has always been, until the ‘system’ took that social control away from the people, like so many other tools to control and subjugate society for the benefit/profit of the powers that are.
And the powers that are are the ones who provide credit (banking) to those systemic tumors parasiting from the host, from us, The People.
No argument from me.
