A 47-year-old man has been charged with two counts of murder following a fatal stabbing at a home in Quakers Hill that left a woman and a man dead.
Emergency services were called to a property on Illabo Street just before 5am on Sunday after reports of a disturbance. NSW Police found a man on the footpath outside the home suffering stab wounds to his stomach and hands, while a 38-year-old woman was discovered deceased inside the kitchen with multiple stab wounds.
The injured man, aged 30, was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition but died several hours later. A crime scene was established and detectives launched an investigation under Strike Force Acoma.
About 5.30am, a 47-year-old man attended Blacktown Police Station, where he was arrested and later charged with two counts of murder. He was refused bail and will remain in custody.
The accused has since been identified by news.com.au as Anare Vunitabua. Police allege the victims were his former partner, Anaseini Waqavuki, and her new boyfriend. NSW Police Superintendent Jason Joyce said the incident was being treated as domestic violence related.
Vunitabua did not apply for bail and will next appear in court in February 2026 at the Downing Centre Local Court.
