Scotland responded emphatically to their recent Six Nations loss to Italy, overpowering England with a high-intensity, bonus-point 31-20 victory in a Calcutta Cup showdown at Murrayfield.
Driven by Finn Russell’s control and precision, the hosts surged into an early 17-0 advantage through his penalty and tries from Huw Jones, Jamie Ritchie and Ben White, while England struggled to respond, managing only a Henry Arundell try and a George Ford penalty before halftime.
England’s challenge was further weakened by Arundell spending 30 minutes in the sin bin, during which Scotland capitalised with 14 points. Although Ford added early second-half points, Jones’ second try — following a charged-down drop goal attempt — restored Scotland’s command.
Despite a late Ben Earl try narrowing the margin, Scotland maintained relentless pressure throughout, leaving England facing a stark reset after being comprehensively outplayed.
