Massive layoffs target bias and bureaucratic bloat in U.S. state-funded legacy media

Voice of America layoffs news

In a major shake-up of U.S. taxpayer-funded legacy media, the Trump administration has laid off over 85% of Voice of America (VOA) staff as part of a long-promised effort to reduce federal waste and bias.

Citing dysfunction and left-leaning editorial slant, officials moved to downsize the Cold War-era broadcaster, preserving only a core team of 50 staff across VOA and affiliated agencies. The administration framed the move as necessary to align VOA with its original mission and curb partisan influence in taxpayer-funded journalism.

Kari Lake, appointed to lead the overhaul, called the cuts a decisive step toward a leaner, more accountable media operation.

  1. While the left wing -or should we rather call it a parasitic wing- loses bureaucratic bloat, people need to realize that that what is announced as being ‘bloat’ could be/is being one of the many safe-stops forefathers have put into the constitution. I am elated to the prospect that people are waking up.
    NZ need a constitution desperately.
There is more to NZ than being only a milking shed.
Happy to have Guantanamo here and even be a guard. Hey, we have some gnarly off-shore islands.
