Ontario’s top court has ruled that provincial pandemic restrictions banning peaceful protests from April 17 to May 22, 2021, were unconstitutional.
The decision came after former legislator Randy Hillier challenged charges related to organising anti-lockdown protests.
The Court of Appeal found that the government failed to consider exemptions for political protests, while allowing other gatherings like weddings and funerals. It said the lower court erred in its analysis by not properly weighing the right to peaceful assembly. The ruling criticised the bureaucrats and politicians in the province for eliminating a fundamental freedom without serious consideration and has called for submissions on potential remedies.
A big help, four years after the fact, eh.
This will have huge implications.

I wonder IF anyone will be compensated here in NZ post the Vaccine March to Parliament and camping out there, with everyone clearing out only after the NZ Police burned the tents down and severely injured targeted political party members (Outdoors & Freedom Party comes to mind, with Alan having his hip broken by unscrupulous cops…) with other suffering permanent injuries.
And political party leaders were not limited to attacks on the Parliament grounds- look at what happened to Liz Gunn at the Auckland Airport…
Again I doubt we would get a similar decision in New Zealand. They wont even rule properly on fluoride, even though the evidence of its harm, is now clear…this place really is a back water…….
