‘Stupid’ decisions by Merz blamed for Germany’s economic slide

German Chancellor Merz criticised for Germany's economic downturn

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz is facing mounting criticism over what a senior Russian official has branded a series of “stupid decisions” that have left Europe’s largest economy struggling.

Kirill Dmitriev, Russia’s presidential envoy for investment and economic cooperation, dismissed Merz’s claim that US tariffs were chiefly responsible for Germany’s loss of competitiveness, arguing instead that the damage was self-inflicted.

After Merz told a Christian Social Union conference in Munich that Germany was “falling behind” economically, Dmitriev responded on X, accusing the chancellor of making “stupid and illegal decisions” that had undermined the country’s industrial base.

He argued that Berlin’s policies, rather than external pressure from Washington, were to blame for stagnating growth and declining competitiveness.

Dmitriev, who also heads Russia’s sovereign wealth fund, has previously accused Merz of sidelining himself internationally through what he described as warmongering and “stubborn stupidity”, particularly over Ukraine.

German media have reported that Merz himself has warned Ukraine’s President Vladimir Zelensky that US negotiators were “playing games” with Europe.

Germany’s economic malaise has been underlined by hard data.

The economy contracted in both 2023 and 2024, the first consecutive annual declines since the early 2000s, with growth this year expected to be negligible. Economists have pointed to soaring energy costs following Germany’s break with cheap Russian gas as a major factor.

Public frustration appears to be growing.

Recent polling suggests strong dissatisfaction with Merz’s coalition government, while his personal approval ratings remain low, reinforcing claims that what critics call his “stupid decisions” are exacting a political as well as economic price.

  1. Merz is merely the icing on the cake
Adding the final touches to Germanys industrialization and societal collapse
Which goes back to Angela Merkel who flooded Germany with non white vermin unable to be assimilated and now a burden and millstone further dragging Germany down into the depths of despair
And Olaf Shultz who was implicated in blowing up Nord Stream at the behest of His US overlord Masters
Germany’s umbilical to cheap Russian oil and gas and continued prosperity

    • Once the SHTF all politeness will be off the table and the individuals responsible for treason will be off a chair, suspended by rope or not.
Violation of ‘res publica’ has USUALLY ended prosecuted if the SHTF only marginally.
However, the next SHTF will be colossal and far-reaching and any polite reckoning will be likely off the table and off the chairs.
That’s the new dumb-f generation of bureaucrats who have never even begun to comprehend history.

The idea of a paradigm shift is nonsense. It will be a paradigm collapse.
It will be a collapse, because nothing will hold up the charade of artificial fiat ‘money’.
