US moves to revoke visas for Chinese students

US student visa news

The Trump administration has announced plans to “aggressively revoke” visas for Chinese students in the US, particularly those linked to the Chinese Communist Party or studying in sensitive fields.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio stated that future applicants from China and Hong Kong will face enhanced scrutiny, and visa appointments have been halted globally.

The move comes amid escalating US-China tensions and has triggered backlash from affected students and institutions like Harvard, which warned of “emotional and academic harm”.

China urged the US to protect international students’ rights but has yet to directly respond to the specific visa revocations.
