A 23-year-old woman, identified as Ari Gisell, has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for initiating the carjacking that led to the murders of Australian brothers Callum and Jake Robinson and their American friend Carter Rhoad during a 2024 surfing trip in Baja California, Mexico.
Gisell admitted urging her boyfriend to steal the tourists’ tyres and phone, prompting him and two accomplices to follow the men to their campsite, rob them, and fatally shoot them before dumping their bodies in a well.
While two of the alleged killers reportedly have cartel ties, prosecutors say the murders were not linked to organised crime.
Emotional statements from the families described shattered futures and profound grief, with Gisell tearfully apologising but acknowledging she could never undo the harm.
