Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky has imposed personal sanctions on longtime associate and former business partner Timur Mindich, who is now on the run and a key suspect in a high-profile corruption probe.
Mindich, a co-owner of Zelensky’s original entertainment studio and once a close confidant, has seen his influence in Ukraine’s energy and defense sectors rise in recent years.
Zelensky approved the Security and Defense Council’s sanctions order on Mindich and another suspect, Aleksandr Zukerman, shortly after both men reportedly fled to Israel—just hours before investigators were due to raid Mindich’s home, prompting speculation he may have been warned.
The sanctions freeze assets and bar the men from activities such as bidding on privatized state assets or broadcasting in Ukraine. Investigators at the National Anti-Corruption Bureau allege the group orchestrated a kickback scheme at the state-run nuclear operator Energoatom, costing the country more than $100 million and laundering funds for wider criminal networks. Fallout from the scandal has already reached senior officials, with Justice Minister German Galushchenko and his former deputy reportedly resigning, and further searches expected at the Defense Ministry. Zelensky has publicly distanced himself from Mindich, insisting that all those involved in corruption must face justice, adding that during wartime “a leader cannot have any friends.”
Phoney sanctions from the phoney Fuhrer.
Ah, gone to israhell, what a surprise !!!!
