The 21-year-old accused from Gisborne has interim name suppression.
The man appeared in the Auckland District Court this morning. He will appear for sentencing at a later date.
The victim, a grandmother of six, told legacy media that she was ‘feeling very good today. I’m glad he has pleaded guilty. That made me feel a lot better.’
She suffered a concussion and facial bruising as a result of the attack. Photos of her facial injuries and the assault, which included repeated punches to her head, circulated widely on social media.
The incident occured at a #LetWomenSpeak event organised by UK women’s rights activist Posie Parker in Auckland’s Albert Park in March.
Twitter user @SimonRAnderson1 was in court today. He described the defendant’s demeanour as ‘calm and relaxed, unlike last time.’
‘It seemed to me the judge merely rubber-stamped whatever the defendant’s barrister Emma Priest suggested. The police prosecutor did not speak AT ALL throughout the hearing.’

A few people recognised me at the courthouse and took the time to come and speak with me which is great.
Still a bit disconcerting though. I've altered my appearance and dress quite differently but people still see straight through my attempts at disguise.

Unlike other defendants, this defendant's name DOES NOT appear in the electronic court board.
To find the courtroom he's appearing in one has to (a) know his name and (b) ask the court registrar at the counter.
MoJ will NOT disclose this information over the phone.

One of the authors of this article is Joseph Los'e.
I've had a little bit to do with Jo and know him to be a good lad. I'm cognizant of the constraints he's required to work under.

This is what NZ has come to, everything is about politics, not truth and certainly, not justice…….
Basically all the worst things Orwell wrote about are slowly unfolding before our eyes.
And the sheer f@cking hubris in their eyes as they insist we’re somehow still a democracy… absolutely terrifying.
Lockdowns and vaccine mandates were just the warm up.
God help us in the years ahead.
