Arrest made following multiple burglaries in Gisborne last week

A man has been taken into custody following multiple burglaries in Gisborne last week.

On Wednesday 11 October, Police were alerted to a burglary at a store on Gladstone Road, Gisborne, later that week on Sunday, Police were alerted to another burglary at a restaurant on Bright Street, between the hours of 10pm and 12am 15 October.

Police conducted scene examination’s and viewed CCTV footage at both addresses.

Last night, Gisborne Police arrested a 40-year-old man in Gisborne CBD.

He is due to appear in the Gisborne District Court today, Friday 20 October, on four charges of burglary.

‘This is a very good outcome for the Gisborne Community and the Volume Crime Team have worked very hard to prevent further offending and hold someone to account,’ said Detective Sergeant Brent Griffiths.

‘We ask if anyone sees any suspicious activity please report it to Police, you can contact Police on 111 if it is happening now or 105 if it is after the fact.’
