Kiwis beat Tonga to Reach Rugby League World Cup Final

New Zealand secured their first Rugby League World Cup final appearance since 2013 with an impressive 34-10 semifinal victory over Tonga in Newcastle.

The Kiwis faced determined opposition in a fiercely contested opening half, taking a narrow 12-10 advantage into the break after Tonga winger Jojo Fifita crossed twice. However, New Zealand took complete control after halftime, scoring four unanswered tries while preventing their opponents from adding to the scoreboard.

Briton Nikora, Dane Gagai, Casey McLean, Jahrome Hughes, Xavier Wilson and Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad each scored tries, with Jamayne Isaako adding five conversions.

Kalyn Ponga delivered an outstanding performance despite carrying an arm injury, helping the Kiwis overcome Tonga’s physical challenge and passionate support. The convincing result ended Tonga’s impressive tournament campaign and sent New Zealand into the World Cup decider.
