Rugby and league legend Sonny Bill Williams has announced a surprising career pivot, becoming the inaugural Pro-Chancellor of Albukhary International University (AIU).
Once a school dropout at 14, Williams, now 39, expressed pride in joining AIU to champion its mission of “producing globally competitive and socially responsible graduates”.
Thanking the university’s founder and Board of Governors, Williams told his social media followers that he was grateful for the transformative power of education and his eagerness to inspire students when he visits next month.
AIU hailed his appointment as a boost to its vision of combining values-driven leadership with academic excellence.
