A 27-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with the murder of Wayne Dewes, who died in late October after sustaining severe injuries.
Detective Inspector David de Lange of the Eastern District Police confirmed the arrest, which follows a nearly two-month-long homicide investigation.
Police were first called to the incident around 4:20 a.m. on October 28 after Mr. Dewes was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries. Despite medical efforts, he died shortly afterward.
The accused is set to appear in the Gisborne District Court today, December 23.
“We are pleased to have made an arrest in this case and hope it brings some sense of reassurance to whānau and the wider community,” said Detective Inspector de Lange.
